Body & Soul offers many different fitness and yoga  classes.  

Class Descriptions

FITNESS 

  • Classic Cardio  A high/lo Cardio workout to burn fat and improve cardiovascular functions.  Ending with abdominal workout and a nice cool down.
  • Cardio & Pump  A great workout guaranteed to burn fat!  A fun-filled class that introduces participants to high/lo aerobics and muscle strengthening using the step, free weights, dyna bands, body bars and anything else we can think of!
  • Step n Strength Combination of strength training and cardio using the step for a great workout to increase endurance and burn fat.
  • Classic Pilates A mat class based on the classical teachings of Joseph Pilates. Strengthen and lengthen the core muscles.  Flexibility, increased range of motion and a long lean body will result.    
  • Classic Pilates II An intermediate Mat class based on the classical teachings of Joseph Pilates.  Increase strength, stretch and flexibility. Previous Pilates experience suggested.
  • Strength Training  Increase strength and muscle definition with use of free weights, dyna bands, body bars and other resistance equipment.  Create a leaner trimmer body and increase your core strength.  The benefits are endless!
  • Mat Science I (Pilates Style) A progressive series of exercises derived from dance conditioning (Pilates) focusing on core stabilization and strength, lengthening muscles and mindful movement.
  • Yoga Pilates Blend  Fuses the disciplines of flow or "vinyasa" yoga.  Linking poses together with the breath and core-conditioning Pilates to produce a strong, flexible body with the perfect balance of energy and calm to the body and mind.  Great combination for fitness and yoga enthusiasts.
     

YOGA 

The practice of Yoga restores youthfulness, inner strength and balance bringing joy, tranquility and understanding to our lives.

  • Yoga I  Suitable for beginners as well as ongoing students.  Includes basic yoga positions that can be adapted to fit all ages and physical conditions.
  • Yoga II  Includes more challenging yoga positions requiring at least 6 months to one-year experience.  Students are expected to have a sound understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
  • Yoga III At least two years Iyengar Yoga experience. Ability to perform Head Balance, and willingness to learn Full Arm Balance supported at the wall are required.
  • Pranayama The practice of yoga breathing techniques.  Mild and meditative.

Styles of Yoga

Iyengar Yoga
:
A world-renowned method of teaching yoga which emphasizes precision and alignment. It is a profound, intelligent and transformative appraoch available to all.

Eclectic Yoga: A cohesive  style combining various yoga traditions.

Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa means flowing movement with breath.  It is a challenging yet precise practice that works to increase strength, flexibility and endurance, resulting in a deepened connection with the self.
